Bankruptcy Stops Creditors From Harassing

One of the main reasons that people file for bankruptcy is to get a fresh start. Due to unforeseen events, it is easy to fall into a financial hole that is too large to climb out of. Add to that the harassing behavior of creditors, and bankruptcy becomes a welcome relief.

Filing for Bankruptcy provides instant protection from the collection activities of these creditors. They are not allowed to collect assets from you while you are in bankruptcy. Nonetheless, creditors will still sometimes violate the Bankruptcy Code and continue to call. If you find yourself in this situation, it is very important to keep detailed records of their contact with you. The Bankruptcy Code provides monetary damages in cases where the creditors do not cease their harassment of you.

Bankruptcy is there to allow people to straighten out their lives and move forward, unhindered by overwhelming financial problems. It is a haven for those that have been dealt unforeseen and, often times, traumatic circumstances. It is important to take advantage of this opportunity to regain control of your life. Moreover, it will stop the constant barrage of phone calls from creditors. If it doesn’t, you have recourse under the Bankruptcy Code.
